We Create Our Futures: A Visionary Event for Climate Action & Sustainability Solutions
On Wednesday, October 1st, people came together in the heart of Toronto with the communal idea: what if we are the solution we are looking for when it comes to the challenges facing the world right now—including climate-action? This principle is a core value of Love Peace Harmony’s, and one that we like to empower people to live in action.
This is why we enthusiastically participated in the ‘Futures Fair’ at the event ‘We Create Our Futures’—a visionary and innovative event created by Toronto-based grassroots community organization Stay Connected, led by Katrina Anastasia*. We Create Our Futures was far more than a typical climate event – it was a living experiment in what’s possible. An immersive celebration of climate solutions through art, fashion, music, and innovation, co-created by the community, for the community, and Mother Earth. Part solarpunk runway, part open-mic uprising, part joyful rebellion, the evening blended culture, community, and imagination to ask: What if we actually lived in the world we’re fighting for?
From futuristic fashion to recycled art, interactive innovation labs to a dance floor powered by hope, through this revolutionary summit, pop-tech met grassroots magic, bringing together fellow dreamers, designers, and doers to reimagine climate action – not as sacrifice, but as celebration, with a mandate: “It's time to model the future like we mean it.”
The timing could not have been more relevant. Toronto was in the full embrace of its inaugural Toronto Climate Week, a city-wide initiative that united art, innovation, policy and community around the urgent task of climate solutions. Toronto Climate Week marked a historic moment for the city — uniting changemakers, creators, and citizens in an unprecedented show of collaboration and climate action. With over 105 events, 5,000 participants, and 1,500 organizations represented, it was a living example of what’s possible when purpose meets partnership. From walk-and-talks and fashion shows to deep-dive discussions and innovation showcases, every event sparked meaningful dialogue and inspired tangible solutions. Supported by 136 partner organizations and amplified by national coverage in outlets like The Toronto Star, CBC News, and Global News, Toronto Climate Week became more than a calendar of events — it was a catalyst for community-led transformation. Behind every statistic were real connections, creative breakthroughs, and a shared sense of optimism for our planet’s future — the very spirit that We Create Our Futures embodied throughout the week.
The Love Peace Harmony table sat amidst the Futures Fair’s sustainable-market floor, inviting visitors to explore not just environmental change, but inner peace, collective harmony and how the two go hand in hand.
Throughout the event, attendees flocked to our table, in a steady, constant flow, our messages clearly rung true with the audience’s demographic, reflected in each of their thoughtful questions and curiosity about what we do and who we are, their participation in our demo of one of the tools used in our programs, the Love Peace Harmony calligraphy water mat, and their eager enthusiasm to learn more about our work, whether through continuing to keep up to date with us on our social media, or even join our free research study.
Our booth’s giveaway—our Love Peace Harmony Song solar players—was a smash hit, with every single one of our more than 20 boxes flying off the table by the end of the evening.
We emphasized Love Peace Harmony’s core vision of striving to create a world where all people and communities unite, building solid foundations of strength and unity; and are free to live a life filled with love, peace, and harmony, while acknowledging that in order to nurture a world of love, peace and harmony, we must also nurture the earth that sustains us.
Inner peace and world peace are intrinsically linked — when one experiences a deeper state of connection with themselves, we naturally begin to awaken to a greater state of connection with everything around us, including all humanity, our environment, and Planet Earth. This naturally cultivates a mindset and a way of living of sustainability and climate-consciousness, not out of guilt or fear, but from a place of genuine felt connectedness and oneness with everyone and everything.
Our Love Peace Harmony Field™ Programs provide tools including calligraphy art, music, books and meditations. The programs help communities transform mental, emotional and physical challenges to create positive change in their daily life and for many generations to come, and facilitate individuals connecting deeper with themselves.
From projects including schools to shelters, hospitals to homes, clean water and scholarships, all our initiatives are grounded in heart centeredness, a compassion of inclusion and built on the belief that everyone deserves opportunities to shine in every area of their life.
Love Peace Harmony as a charitable organization has been active in climate action and reforestation through a number of our projects. Our 'Plant -A-Million' campaign successfully planted 1.3 million trees through our partnerships with One Tree Planted and Eden Reforestation in North and Latin America, Asia, Africa, including Haiti, Indonesia, Madagascar, and Nepal. One of our current projects, the Pu'u Kukui Watershed focuses on watershed restoration and preservation in the areas of Maui, Hawaii affected by the devastating 2023 wildfires.
If you weren’t able to attend Toronto Climate Week, we invite you to reflect on how you can engage in your local community: host a conversation, attend a creative climate-action event, or simply connect with one person about future-forward solutions. These small actions matter deeply. They feed into the wider movement of culture meets climate, head meets heart.
Because climate justice is a human story. A labor of love. A field of hope. And what we create together today creates our tomorrow. As the event’s title says: We create our futures.
The event took place at Centre for Social Innovation: a Toronto-based social enterprise and coworking collective that brings together changemakers and mission-driven organizations under one roof.
