Building Stronger Communities Through Education, Wellness, and Engagement

Projects

Continuing our 10 year partnership with the APEC Afterschool Care Program, we have launched a new transformative initiative blending education, wellness, and community engagement. The program includes building a sustainable garden, offering hands-on learning and fostering community connections, and scholarships for 10 students totaling $33,000 ($3,300 each). These scholarships include participation in the Love Peace Harmony Field Program, promoting mindfulness, emotional well-being, and social harmony for children and their families.

APEC stands for Assisting Families, Preparing Children, Establish Relationships and Caring Enough. They are a chain of afterschool care programs in Atlanta, Georgia founded by Angie Dutch. In this documentary, we showcase the extensive work done through APEC’s aftercare program in 13 locations and counting. These programs have seamlessly integrated the principles of love, peace, and harmony into their corporate philosophy, profoundly impacting the communities they serve. The initiative at APEC focuses on nurturing children in a loving and productive environment, preparing them for success, and promoting love, respect, and trust among families, schools, and staff. Their commitment to excellence is reinforced by modeling positive behavior daily, demonstrating a deep care for the communities they serve.

Students at Princess Ruth Keʻelikolani Middle School have experienced a remarkable turnaround through the Love Peace Harmony Youth Program.

In 2022, the school faced major behavioral and academic challenges — 18–24 students in detention daily, low reading and writing performance, high absenteeism, resulting in the school’s placement in a mandatory national tutoring program. Recognizing the urgent need to address these challenges Principal Joe Passantino engaged our local LPH volunteers to lead weekly and bi-weekly sessions, supporting students to regulate emotions, reduce stress, and improve focus.

By year’s end, detention rates dropped remarkably, with 971 students positively impacted. A hallmark example is special education students who were once withdrawn began enthusiastically participating, even going so far as confidently leading meditations and singing of their own volition. Teachers reported improved concentration, better classroom behavior, and a remarkable improvement in academic performance - the once-struggling students now not only complete required learning modules, but some are even earning awards for their scholastic achievements. Test scores rose schoolwide, underscoring the profound connection between mental well-being and academic success. With this transformation, Principal Passantino was named Hawaii’s Secondary Principal of the Year in 2024.

The Pacific Birth Collective, dedicated to supporting birthing families through education, scholarships, and supplies, is partnering with the Love Peace Harmony Foundation to expand its offerings with the Love Peace Harmony Field™, provide funding, and deliver holistic healing to families rebuilding after the devastating Maui wildfires of 2023. As part of this partnership, we will provide continuous resources, establish their own Love Peace Harmony Field™, and fund scholarships for five women to access midwifery care integrating our practices to support their long-term well-being.

Pacific Birth Collective is a grassroots organization based in Maui, Hawai'i, dedicated to providing education, support, and advocacy for birth and wellness choices across the state. Established in 2016 by a group of birth professionals and advocates, PBC aims to create a network connecting families with practitioners specializing in pregnancy, birth, and postpartum care. Their programs include a Practitioner Directory, the Community Birth Project offering access to birth and postpartum support, and the Farm to Mother initiative providing free weekly food boxes tailored for the perinatal period. Pacific Birth Collective also offers resources such as educational materials on midwifery and doula services, as well as a calendar of community events and classes. In response to the Maui wildfires, they have extended support to affected families by providing supplies and health services. Through these efforts, Pacific Birth Collective strives to foster a thriving community where all families and practitioners have access to care that honors diverse pathways and choices supporting their well-being.

Pu’u Kukui Watershed Restoration and Preservation in Maui

Please Support Our Project in Pu’u Kukui by Donating

$135 Raised Goal: $10,000

The Pu’u Watershed embodies the interconnectedness of all life, from the mountains (Mauka) to the ocean (Makai), serving as the lifeblood of Maui by providing fresh water, sustaining ecosystems, and preserving native species. Guided by the Hawaiian wisdom of wai (water) as life, this initiative engages the community through planting native trees, collecting seeds with elders, and teaching stewardship to children and families, fostering a deep connection to the land. Traditional prayers and cultural rituals enrich these efforts, transforming them into unifying experiences of purpose and belonging. By restoring the watershed’s natural flow, the project ensures sustainability and abundance, exemplified by thriving native species like the 20-foot Koa tree planted three years ago. The Love Peace Harmony Foundation supports this vital work through education, cultural engagement, and a $10,000 annual contribution to watershed activities. By integrating the Love Peace Harmony Field™, the Foundation helps create a harmonious space for learning and healing while amplifying the impact of Hawaiian-led community efforts.
