People, Planet, Possibility — The P.E.A. Awards Part 2: Why Wellbeing Matters in Building a Sustainable Future

When people think about sustainability, they often picture renewable energy, conservation, recycling, or protecting our natural environment.

All of these are essential.

But one of the most meaningful conversations at this year's P.E.A. (People. Environment. Achievement.) Awards reminded us of something equally important:

Creating a healthier planet begins with creating healthier people.

That is why the Health & Wellbeing Award—the most entered category of the evening—was such a significant moment.

It reflected a growing global understanding that wellbeing is no longer separate from conversations about sustainability.

It is an essential part of them.

Recognizing Leadership in Health & Wellbeing

The Love Peace Harmony Foundation was honored to sponsor and present the Health & Wellbeing Award, celebrating individuals and organizations creating practical, meaningful solutions that improve people's lives.

The award was presented by LPHF Co-Director Alexia Cito to Alfie Ruffell, founder of SPEAK.

SPEAK was created to address one of the construction industry's greatest challenges—mental health.

With some of the highest suicide rates of any profession, construction workers often face long hours, financial pressure, transient workplaces, and cultures where mental health struggles can remain unspoken.

Rather than creating another reactive wellbeing program, Alfie developed a preventative, practical model that integrates naturally into everyday working environments, making support accessible before people reach crisis point.

His work is helping redefine what workplace wellbeing can look like—and demonstrates how caring for people is one of the foundations of creating healthier communities.

Why This Matters to Love Peace Harmony Foundation

At the Love Peace Harmony Foundation, our mission has always been rooted in a simple belief:

Positive change begins from within.

That belief is reflected in our three pillars:

💙 Nurture Yourself

🤝 Support Others

🌱 Heal the Planet

They're not separate initiatives.

They're part of one continuous journey.

When we nurture our own wellbeing, we become more resilient.

When we feel more resilient, we naturally have greater capacity to support our families, workplaces, and communities.

And when communities thrive, they are better equipped to care for the environment we all share.

The conversations taking place throughout the P.E.A. Awards reflected this growing understanding.

Environmental sustainability isn't only about protecting natural resources.

It's also about building healthier, kinder, more connected communities.

A New Conversation About Sustainability

One of the themes that resonated throughout the evening was hope.

Rather than focusing solely on the challenges facing our world, the P.E.A. Awards celebrated practical solutions.

People taking action.

Organizations creating change.

Communities finding new ways forward.

That is why the Health & Wellbeing category attracted the largest number of entries.

It reflects an exciting shift in thinking.

Increasingly, organizations around the world are recognizing that wellbeing isn't simply a personal issue.

It influences education.

Workplaces.

Communities.

Leadership.

Creativity.

Innovation.

And ultimately, our collective ability to create a more sustainable future.

Love in Action

This vision aligns beautifully with the Love Peace Harmony Foundation's approach.

Every day we see volunteers, educators, healthcare professionals, families, and community leaders using simple wellbeing practices to create positive change in their own communities.

Sometimes that change begins with a moment of calm.

Sometimes it begins with a conversation.

Sometimes it begins with one person choosing to care for themselves a little more deeply.

Whatever form it takes, every positive action creates another ripple.

And every ripple helps build a healthier future for people and our planet.

Looking Ahead

We're incredibly grateful to the P.E.A. Awards for recognizing the importance of wellbeing alongside environmental leadership and innovation.

Congratulations once again to Alfie Ruffell and the entire SPEAK team for this well-deserved recognition.

Their work reminds us that creating a better future begins by caring for the people who make that future possible.

In the final article of our People. Planet. Possibility. series, we'll share one of the most meaningful moments of the evening as Dr. & Master Zhi Gang Sha, Founder of the Love Peace Harmony Foundation, received the Lifetime Achievement Award in recognition of his lifelong dedication to serving humanity.

Together, let's continue to...

💙 Nurture Yourself

🤝 Support Others

🌱 Heal the Planet
