Community Stories: Finding Light After Loss

Sometimes, healing begins with something very simple.

A daily practice.

A supportive community.

A moment of calm in the middle of uncertainty.

For Lori Apo, a survivor of the devastating Lahaina wildfires in Maui, the journey of recovery has been filled with both immense challenges and remarkable resilience.

Like many members of her community, Lori experienced profound loss. In the aftermath of the fires, she faced the reality of losing her home, grieving loved ones, and witnessing a once close-knit community become scattered across the island and beyond.

Yet even in the midst of rebuilding, Lori found comfort in simple daily Love Peace Harmony practices that helped her navigate the emotional weight of recovery.

In the video below, Lori shares her experience:

Lori's story is a powerful reminder that resilience is not about never facing hardship.

It's about finding ways to continue moving forward.

It is about discovering moments of peace amidst uncertainty, choosing hope when circumstances are difficult, and allowing support from others when it is needed most.

This reflects two of the Love Peace Harmony Foundation's pillars: Nurture Yourself and Support Others.

As Lori continued her own journey of healing, she also found herself sharing what had helped her with others facing challenges of their own. What began as personal support became a way of supporting those around her.

That is often how positive change grows.

One person finds a tool that helps.

One person shares it with another.

And a ripple effect begins.

Today, Lori continues to inspire others through her determination, her generosity, and her willingness to share her story.

Her journey reminds us that even after profound loss, it is possible to find moments of peace, reconnect with hope, and continue building a future filled with meaning and purpose.
